Frequency Distribution

Frequency is how often something occurs.

Examples
  • Sunday Afternoon
  • Monday Morning
  • Monday Afternoon

The frequency was 1 on Sunday, 2 on Monday and 3 for the whole week.

Definition of Frequency Distribution

We can make a Frequency Distribution table by counting frequencies.

Example: Eat

The amount of Apple that John has eaten every day in 15 days.

3, 2, 4, 3, 4, 2, 3, 2, 1, 5, 1, 3, 3, 2, 1

Put the numbers in order, then added up:

  • how often 1 occurs (3 times),
  • how often 2 occurs (4 times),
  • etc,

and wrote them down as a Frequency Distribution table.

AmountFrequency
13
24
35
42
51

From the table we can see interesting things such as

  • Eating 3 apples happens most often
  • only once did he eat 5 apples

So, Frequency Distribution means: values and their frequency (how often each value occurs).
